INTRODUCING MY NEW BLOG: FASHION FOLIO

Assalamulaikum wbt.,
Hello guys. I've been quite busy these last couple of days to come up with a new blog on fashion, called Fashion Folio, something which I love to do. Below is the first entry of my blog. However, since it's still a bit slow, coz I don't have a camera right now. I'm trying to save my allowance to buy a Canon Powershot insyaallah. Everyone in the family is donating. So, maybe the camera will be on the way soon, and I can start the blog full swing.
I like to do something between The Sartorialist and Kayture.I've got the idea in my head already but I'm taking it one step at a time. So, far the response in very good, with audience for my first entry mainly from the United States. I'll give you the link once it is in full gear. Thank you for all your support. Below is the preview (copy) of my first entry in Fashion Folio. Hope you guys like it.

Hello fashion fanatics,

To commemorate the debut of Fashion Folio, I'd like to share with you the art of street style. For me, street style is a sense of fashion that makes the wearer feel comfortable, practical and easy to move around, whether to catch the train, hail a cab or just for a round of shopping. It makes one blend in the crowd but at the same time, stands out, due to a hint of fashion intelligence here and there, in his fashion choice.

When travelling to cool climates, the weather is usually chilly and the autumn colour is uninspiring, so, why not include some colours to your attire to make yourself look cheerful. Here is me, somewhere in downtown Seoul, a city where fashion rules big time.

WHAT I WEAR :
Red cashmere muffler,
Black unbranded T-shirt,
Black wool cardi,
Grey-washed jeans,
Black leather belt
Giallo Neon-purple shoes.

Bring along a printed headcover as the temperature will drop in the evening. Also wear woolen stockings,  long john and black wool gloves if the weather is really cold.

Moving on to warm countries, the fashion choice is unlimited. You can wear almost anything under the sun, as long as you don't intimidate others on the street. Here, I was in Jakarta, Indonesia.

WHAT I WEAR:
White fedora (Hat) to screen off the harsh tropical sunlight.
Batik printed / Brown Tye-dye wavy cotton shirt
Metal studded dark brown jeans
Topman shoes
Grey cotton top (on the inside)
Grey sling bag
Navy blue knitted belt
Cache Cache Moustache ring.

Bring along a pair of quality shades, a pair of sandals/ flip flop if the temperature rises as you'd feel more comfortable. Wool/ leather/ synthetic fabric is a big no no. Wear quality cotton, to cool you off. I wear the  cotton top on the inside because you'll perspire more in the hot sun.Wear less accessories. Make sure your bag is also made of cotton or natural fibre/fabric because leather/plastic or other synthetic material will only make you look heavy and stressful. A bottle of drinking water is a lot of help to restore your energy.

When I visited Bandung, Indonesia. It is a hilly area, so the temperature is quite cold. I have to give ample coverage to my body to prevent any heat loss but I can still manage to bare my feet. I choose tribal-print flip flop to reflect the country I was visiting. It's kind of a general theme and connects my whole fashion selection while I was there.

WHAT I WEAR:
White fedora
Pink T-shirt (inside) (Who says a guy can't wear pink, and it's a good match with grey).
Grey Esprit long sleeve shirt
Black cardi with red tribal print hood.
Black-metallic slim-fit jeans
Tribal-print sandals / flip flop

This is what I wear when I am with friends in Saigon, Vietnam. The choice of fashion should be simple so as to blend with the locals, but still reflects your personality and style. Do not be afraid to play with colours, a good mood booster when you are tired, due to much window shopping and haggling for a bargain at Ben Tanh market.

WHAT I WEAR:
Printed headscarf used as a neckwarmer / accessory
Banana yellow printed cotton T-shirt
Blue jeans
Blue Giallo shoes

You can let your imagination runs wild. However, restrain from being overzealous and make sure you don't look like a clown coming into the city. Too much colour can make you look messy. Don't colour clash. Then, you're ready to go.

see ya next time.
The Average Malay

xoxo,
DANIEL ZAYDI
