Year End Getaway Here I Come Yeay!

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
I'm sure most people on planet E are on holidays or are about to soon. There's the Xmas hols, school hols, Year End hols, New Year Hols etc.
.
As for me, my family and I are going to travel around our country very very soon yeay!!.
.
We will leave for the state of Pahang first, stay overnight, then move on to Terengganu for maybe a couple of nights, then proceed to Kelantan for three days (these are all the East Coast states). Then we'll traverse the country to the West Coast into the state of Perak, then maybe to kedah and then Penang (my hometown of course) where we will spend some time visiting our beloved little brother's grave, and meet up with my grandma and grandpa. Then if we have time, my dad will bring us to Cameron Highlands on our last journey back to home sweet home in the state of Selangor, crossing Federal Territory.
.
We won't do Johor, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan coz we've done it when we go back to my dad's kampung.
.
However, my mom being my mom, of course this trip has to be educational too. So, throughout the way, we have to attend her "course" on growing up elegant. The course would include this syllibus( dunno how to spell this word la). Actually, she had already done a pre-tour briefing and a gothru the syllibus with us just now:
.
A.On CHARACTER/PERSONALITY

1. Practice good posture (remember the invisible string my mom said. Ahhh, I wish).

2. Speak softly (we have started practicing this since just now hehe).

3. Listen without interrupting (difficult, difficult)

4. Have impeccable manners (Dad will bring us to restaurants where we can practice this).

5. Read on a variety of topics (so each of us has to bring three books of our choice for the journey)

7. Don’t yell or scream (Simple solution: put duct tape across your mouth, hehe).

8. Go on picnics (we have the picnic basket and picnic throw ready by the door for the journey. yeay,  picnics by the sea. can't wait).

9. Be kind (To whom? My lil sis? no way, uhh, way way).

10. Arrive exactly on time (Dad will be in charge of time for this group tour. "SIGH")

11. Don’t complain (This is the most difficult one for me. Mom will keep tabs of how many complaints we make and we will be charged/fined if we do).

12. Be well travelled (that's the purpose of this journey I guess).

13.Don’t point out the mistakes of others (my mom will get a hefty fine for this hahaha).

14. Wait your turn patiently (what, I can't push my lil sis away. No fun la).

15. Don’t curse (I'll just bite my lips).

25. Make others feel comfortable (how? like give my lil sis her stockings, slippers, cushion and blanket?)

26. Hold yourself to high standards (I really dunno my standard, so how do I hold myself to it?)

27. Think before you speak or act.  (Oh no, this is really not me)
28. Apologize sincerely (I'm sure we have a lot of apologizing to do during this journey, yucks).

29. Have integrity (I actually don't understand this word)

36. Take the time to stop and listen to others, especially children (always done it with my cousins).

37. Take responsibility for yourself and your own happiness (Don't understand this one)

38. Keep a journal (we all have to write about this journey. What la).

39. Give thoughtful gifts, rather than expensive ones (done)

40. Savour the moment (simple: just take lotsa pics).

5. Wear an outer coat (both my sisters have already taken out their coats for packing. I don't have one anyway. Maybe just bring my jacket).

6. Learn how to wear a scarf (no problem with the girls. Just watch Hijab tutorials)

7. Practice quality over quantity (we have to pack only our best clothes and shoes).
8. Dress to travel (wow, whatever this means)
9. Keep your nails well manicured (my nails are clean. That's enough I guess).

10. Maintain your shoes and clothing (mom bought foldable shoe storage at Daiso yesterday for this journey).

11. Be well groomed (done)

12. Wear less make-up (just for the girls)

13. Wear well-fitting clothes (done)

14. Maintain good health (done)

15. Wear simple, classic hairstyles (done)
16. Only wear sneakers for exercise (done. We have to go for a morning jog on the beaches everyday. Yippee)
17. Be sure your clothes are pressed (not so done)

18. Dress appropriately for the occasion (okay)

19. Less is more (okay)

20. Whiten your teeth (I use bicarbonate soda and it actually workkksssss :))

21. Smile often (think the words "happy".  It will automatically makes you smile. try it).

22. Eliminate body odour (no prob. don't have one)

23. Always be mindful of your cleanliness (fine).

 .
I dunno where my mom got this list. Maybe some perfectionists thought that all these will make you a happier person. But whateva, we'll try to play along with my mom's "educational course" hahha. Main point is, we r going on a holiday yippee!!

Peace
Daniel Zaydi.

ps. Can't wait to get out of town. coz a million vehicles pass through my beloved town of Puchong every single day. Just imagine. Get the picture? (Luckily my house is in a secluded area, if not, I'll die of nervous breakdown already).

Holiday Checklist Checked

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
I've written an entry before on what I wanted to do during my school holidays. So far, I've managed to complete some of them:
.
1. The Quran Memorization Camp. Phew, so happy when it was going on, and soo glad when it was over. My big sister became the top student for the girl category in Quran Memorization. Me and lil sister didn't participate in the final contest though coz my lil sister had to go to the airport to bid her good friend farewell. (Her friend was moving to Doha, Qatar for 10 years. Wow, she'd be sooo old when she returns to Malaysia).
.
2. Paint my room. Well, actually, part of my room. I did not manage to paint the whole room coz I'm sooo not lazy (hehe).
.
3. Do a room makeover. Well, it's not that difficult. Just give it a new coat of paint, buy new curtains and bed sheet, and rearrange the furniture. Voila!
.
4. Watch TV. Yes! I did a lot of that.
.
5. Facebooking and Twittering. Well, not that much actually. Dunno why, but I don't think I like Facebook anymore. Sometimes, It's kinda annoying too.
.
6. Go to IKEA. Nope, haven't achieved that one. Only got to IOI and Alamanda. Mom wouldn't allow me to hang out with my friends to Megamall or Pavilion either.
.
7. Write and decorate my diary. Yup, that one I've done. Went to Daiso with mommy deary and got some stuff at RM5 each to decorate my diary which I bought at Popular, Amcorp Mall. My very own custom design diary, yeay!.
.
8. Pray 5 times daily. This goes without saying. Of course I have to solat 5 times everyday what.
.
9. Buy new clothes (school uniforms)..emmm, that hasn't been done. And..my mom has already thrown my old unis into the charity box..so I'm left without uniforms..and my teacher had already called to ask me (as a prefect) to attend the freshmen registration day. What should I do..ARGHHHH.

10. Find a job (to earn money)..No one wants to hire an underage like me, so this is a failed mission.
.
In conclusion..this holiday missions ..are..partly (more like 70%) accomplished hehe!!!.Yippee
.
Happy holidays everyone.

Peace
Daniel Zaydi

Save Your Tears Mr. Obama

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
A few days ago, I read on the front page of our newspaper that 20 little children somewhere in the U.S. were brutally shot by a young American who went berserk. There was also a photo of President Barack Obama in tears, most probably saddened by what happened.Mr. Obama, you should ask yourself WHY this incident happened.
.
I would just like to ask him, why didn't he shed any tears when Palestinian children were killed during the recent Gaza bombing by the Israelis, an attack which had the green light of the U.S. President. Is it because the lives of these Palestinian children had no value to him? That there's nothing to cry about when these children were killed, injured or became orphans?
.
I read that more than 400 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis since 2008. In Islam, we believe that all the children, whether they are Palestinians or Americans will go to heaven because they have no sin.

The moral of the story here is "what goes around comes around".

On Charity

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
Today I'd like to write about charity.Everyone in this universe knows that it is good to do good deeds, help the poor or the needy and give charity whether in terms of money or kind. My family i.e. my parents have instilled this virtue in us since we were very young. My mom used to bring us to orphanages every month. Nowadays the visit is less frequent coz my mom is busy with her other charity works. (you can read my post on Eid-Fitr). my parents want us to be exposed to charity work since young so that we are wise enough t do it on our own when we live independently. Do you know why? Well, as usual, I'll list down why sometimes charity work is dangerous/risky and only the experience should get involved:
.
1. At one time, my mom helped a homeless family (who lived in a car) to stay at a temporary shelter in our musolla, while arranging for them to get government housing. The family turns out to be a whole bunch of liars, robbers, they ran away from loan sharks, they were very arrogant, didn't want to pray even though they stayed in a musolla, they asked money from the neighbours, they demanded to eat lavishly, the children didn't go to school, they even lied about their school, the mother was sooo lazy and evil, they hoarded the foodstuff that people donated to them and asked for more and more, they even asked people to top up their phone, the husband had a mistress, they stole almost all the kitchenware and stuff at the musolla before they left, they accused my mom of trying to convert their children's religion to christianity when my mom tried to arrange for the kids to go to sponsored school (they were no longer accepted to government school).

When they finally got the government flat, the father demanded that they be given a ground floor house coz he is phobia of lifts, and he even said bad things about my mom to others. This family tried to tarnish my mom's goodname until some of the neighbours blame my mom for their presence. People came to my house complaining and angry and wanted them out of the musolla ASAP.
.
What did my mom did? She chased the father out of the musolla, threatened to take away the kids and sent them to children's home and sent the wife to the police. She even called the father's employer, the children's schools and carried her own investigation on the matter. Nobody had ever seen how angry my mom was except that day.  The father became so scared of my mom that he would use a different route whenever he saw my mom. About the flat, my mom simply told him, "If you are scared of the lift, just climb the stairs". Don't try to be arrogant with me. If you don't want to climb the stairs, go sleep in your car, or in the streets. The flat is not for you, it's for the children".  After three weeks, they finally got the flat, and moved out of the musolla. However, the father managed to destroy the door, and the bedroom lock, and the vanity chair in the bedroom. The mother ransacked everything and she was such a pro, that nobody realised it until much later, and they even demanded an extra van to move their things and they didn't even say thank you.
.
So, did you see what I mean. These so called "poor" people are usually bad people. Actually I don't know the whole story but what I know is already soo freaking bad.
.
2) At another time, my mom received a call that someone was in urgent need of help, coz the landlord wanted them out because they haven't paid the rent for seven months. My mom arranged for them to get alms. And they received about RM2,000 as payment for the rent. However, my mom soon find out that they had cheated in the form and my mom had (without knowing it) help them to cheat. That day, I saw my mom looking very tired and old. Later, she told me, the case made her wanted to cry but she just couldn't. She just felt soo tired and heavy hearted and all her energy just went away. Did you know why? Because the pople who cheated her wore religious garment. The wife even wore a niqab but they dare to cheat the alms money.I don't know how they are going to answer to God. My mom arranged for the husband an wife to get proper jobs, but they didn't turn up,.
.
3). Another family is always quarelling because the father and son drink alcohol. The father would run to my house in the middle of the night, shirtless and barefoot, with blood dripping from the corner of his mouth coz he had been beaten by his son. My father then would be angry with my mom for giving these scumbags a face. My mom tried to help them, but they are soo lazy to help themselves, they can't even finish filling the forms that my mom gave to them. Their house does not have electricity or water and they have nothing to eat. My mom's friend who is also into charity would send groceries to them. But these people never change.
.
4) Another family has been staying with relatives for like 20 years. So my mom helped them to get government flat and a job. However, the family are like leeches. They want people to prepare everything for them. The husband worked for like a month, and then complained of illness, pain etc. They didn't even want to buy a broom and a mop to clean their new house. They borrowed from my mom and returned the mop and broom damaged. My dad had to buy them gas cylinder, transported them to their new house while they sat at the back, and moved their stuff (that people donated) at night while the wife did nothing. My mom's friend helped to pay for the house deposit, did the electrical wiring for the whole house and bought all the window panes. And the husband did nothing to help, saying that he didn't know how to handle a hammer. My mom and her friends also got a huge amount of donation to fund the children's school, but later, the wife called my mom demanding the money coz she said it belonged to them. My mom was even accused of having an affair with her friend because she ahd to spend so much time together to settle this family's case.
.
Form the stories above, you see, only the tough should get involved with charity cases because:

1. Some of the poor are bad people. They become poor because of their own doing.

2. They are lazy.

3. They have no commitment,

4. They like to cheat
5. They like to steal
6. They lack personal hygiene
7. They like to gamble
8.show off
9.drink alcohol
10.they have a mistress
11.they are not sincere
12, they have no principles
13, they can't handle problems (they actually run away from problems),
14 they created their own problems,
15 they want people to help them like they are soo important
16, they don't want to work,
17 they think that they are the smartest people on earth,
18 they choose their jobs
19, they have no respect for others
20. They don't know what gratitute means
21. And finally, they don't pray. They are not only arrogant to humans but they are also arrogant to God.
.
The above people are all Muslims and I bet there are soo many like them out there who are poor or are caught up in a difficult situation because of their own attitude. .
.
As for the non-Muslims who live in flats near my house, most of them who have problems would end up mentally ill.Recently a Chinese guy, came near my house totally naked, shouting nonsense. Luckily the police managed to persuade him to go home. You can see sometimes, they quarrel by the roadside, some would talk to themselves, a guy came to the vacant house next to ours praying and feeding the"so called" ghosts that he said he saw etc, beat up their moms or wives etc.
.
"SIGH"

Maybe you are wondering why I tell you this. It's because my mom has been angry with us since last night. She'd snap at everyone, even this morning. I know she's handling a case right now where the father has to rummage garbage bins in order to survive. I know coz i was in the car with my sisters when my mom found the old man. I'm sure my mom is frustrated or mad about something, maybe with the old man's family.
.
Anyway, that's it.  I feel tired too thinking about these people.
.

On Happiness

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
I stumbled upon the big word "Happiness" a lot lately. For example, there's "Happy New Year", "Happy Holiday" and a lot of "Happiness" word being tossed around during weddings (these couple of months are wedding months), so it got me wondering, do these people really mean it when they wish someone happiness? coz we can't even see happiness, we can't touch it, hold it, coz it's not something physical. It's just a feeling that you can't describe because someone's happiness might not be happiness to someone else.

And there is also false happiness compared to true happiness. For example, at one time, I wanted something so badly and I got it, and I felt really happy, but after a moment the thing became a burden to me, and instead of being happy, I felt mad, stressed, frustrated, sad and have anxiety to the point that I wish I never really wished for it.  That's why, I've decided to list down what happiness means to me:
.
1. When I can spend light time with my good friends and we bond like brothers and sisters.
.
2. When I study not so hard and achieve "A" in my exam result.
.
3. When I go back to my kampung and I spend time with my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandma and grandpa and everybody is happy (no quarreling please).
.
4. When I can express my thoughts and people listen to me sincerely.
.
5. When I don't see people that I don't like.
.
6. When I've cleaned my house and it looks polished.
.
7. When I help my friends.
.
8. When my family and I travel together in my dad's MPV and we sing to a song we all like together.
.
9. When my family, cousins and I go out together to Tanjung in Muar and we blow bubbles, play kites, fool around or just sit on the grass laughing at each other's stupidity.

10. When my family, cousins and I all lie down in front of the TV watching scary movie or funny movie then we all fall asleep together.
.
11. When we have lunch on the wooden platform under a tree in my kampung.
.
12. When I got to tease my cousins and they fail to tease me back haha.
.
13.  When my family, aunts, uncles and cousins all go for a holiday together.
.
14. When my friends or teachers go for a holiday and they tell me about it.
.
15. When my family, aunts, uncles and cousins go for coffee or tea at 4pm and we spend an hour or two just telling funny stories out loud, and we don't care if other customers hear our stories.

16. When my cousins, aunts, uncles, friends come to my house.
.
17. When my friends spend the night at my house.
.
18. When my face is clear of pimples.
.
19. When my mom cooks something delicious or when I can eat Mak Nojah or Mak Ros's cooking.
.
20.  When I've performed all my 5 time compulsory prayers, coz then, I can sleep peacefully without thinking about the debt that I need to pay to God.
.
Well, that's all I can think of now. Maybe I'll update the list when I think of something new.
.
Be happy coz it doesn't involve money.
.

Why/How Malaysians Die

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
After writing about the previous post, I feel like I need to list down on what factors would contribute to deaths in Malaysia. This is my own list, so it's up to you to believe it or not.
.
Things/acts that kill Malaysians:

1. Sugar and/or all sweet foodstuff that contains sugar. Many Malaysians have diabetes because they like to take sweet food, drinnks and whatnot.
.
2. Salt. Many Malaysians have high blood pressure coz their food is salty.
.
3. Cigarrete. (Look, I don't even know how to spell this thing). Cigarette is haram and soooo very expensive but many Malaysians smoke it thinking they look cool, while we think they are the most stupid people on earth (only those who are super stupid would risk their lives by smoking). Many students in my school smoke (but I don't befriend them, coz who would want to make friends with a moron).
.
4. Road accident. Malaysians would be surprised if no one dies on our road for a day. It's like, Hey, how come nobody dies today huh?". Malaysians are soo stupid on the road coz most of us would speed, even in the rain and at night, the motorcyclists have no helmets on and would zigzag in the traffic, the pedestrians would cross the busy roads thinking they are made of steel or maybe they think they are Superman, the cars would run the red lights and they would park anywhere they like etc. I think that's why many Malaysians are so stressed, coz the road and traffic behaviour are soo bad.
.
5. Eating late. Malaysians eat 24/7, 365 +1. Come to Malaysia if you don't believe me. We can go out to eat at 4 in the morning if we are hungry. We die not because of lack of food, but due to excessive food.
.
6. Staying up late. We have to stay up late to eat late, so we die young.
.
7. Wake up late. We wake up late because we stay up late, so we become unhealthy and we die young.
.
8. No exercise. Because we eat late, stay up late and wake up late, we become lazy to exersice so we die young.
.
9. Stroke and heart disease. No. 5,6,7, and 8 contribute to heart desease. So we have many sudden deaths and we die young.
.
10. Fast food. My friend has kidney problem since he was 2 years old. Why, because his parents and grandparents love him sooo much, they spoilt him with fast food. (actually they love him so much they were slowly killing him).
.
11. Processed food. I think among my friends, I'm the only one who don't eat instant noodles and whatnot. My mom doesn't allow us to eat instant or processed foods coz they contain a lot of salt, conditioner, preservatives and colouring, which means that the food will become toxin in your body and kill you slowly.
.
12. Drugs. Many Malaysians died because they take drugs, then got HIV, then they end up making a mess of themselves and a burden to others. When they are high on drugs they'd kill their families or neighbours, then eventually they'll die.
.
13. Doctors. I don't think many doctors in Malaysia are good or qualified or have the noble intentions to become doctors. All they want is the status and the high earnings. When my little brother was ill, he went into the hospital walking on his own, but he came out as a corpse. You see, there have been many incidents like this but the government did nothing to investigate. If the hospital is a good place, at least my brother would come out walking, if not running. It shows that the doctors had actually made his conditions worst to the point of killing him. Many people say these doctors have hidden agenda but the Malaysian government is as usual, would be sooo involved in international affairs, that they are blind to what's going on under their own noses.I pray hard that these doctors will rot in this world and in hell.Amin.
.
14. Stress. Many Malaysians are stressed due to their own doing. They take up bank loans, buy expensive houses and cars, and live like the rich and famous when the fact is all are borrowed money. So they become stressed out and they quarreled with their family and then they go to mental hospitals or they abuse their children.
.
15. Murdered. many men, women, children and babies are murdered everyday. babies are murdered by their mothers because of shame (coz the babies are born out of wedlock), the women are murdered coz their husbands or lovers are evil and the men are killed because they hang out with evil people.Innocent people are murdered when they are robbed and whatnot.
.
16. The list would go on and on but I wouldn't want to go on coz it made me stressed just thinking about this. How am I gonna stay in Malaysia if all these continues.
.
Peace

Mak Long's Mom Has Departed

Assalamuaalaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

My mom received a text at 2.30am yesterday saying that my Mak Long's mother has passed away. My dad went to the tahlil on the way home from his office. My dad didn't allow us to go coz my dad said there were too many people at the tahlil. So we couldn't meet our cousins Hasif and Khalid who have lost their grandma. I hope my Mak Long, Pak Long, Hasif and Khalid would be strong and have patience. Condolences to my Mak Long, Noraihan and al-Fatehah to her mom and I hope Allah will pardon all her sins.
.
By the way, she died of diabetes. She has been taking insulin injections for soo long. (My mom said, insulin is haram coz it's made from pig substance).  I don't know why but Malaysians like to risk their lives with sugar.

Sugar kills. Remember that!. Please boycott sugar from now on!!!.
.
p.s. Allah has stated in the Quran and Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. taught us to only eat what is halal and good (beneficial) to our body. Taking excessive sugar is harmful, and if we do harmful act to our body, we have committed a sin and we will be questioned in the hereafter. This is a reminder to myself!!!!!
.

THE TRAVEL STORY

Assalamualaikumwarrahmatullahiwabarakatuh. ( tak jawab dosa...)

#This post is in malay. harap maklum. haha.

Ok, alhamdulillah, setakat ini okey sahaja selama tiga minggu masuk kem hafazan. Memang menghafaz saja setiap hari. haha.

Hari ini, saya nak bercerita tentang... travel, travelling. Something like that.

Dulu-dulu, waktu kecil laa, my mama and baba selalu juga lah bawa the little me to KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) ... yeah. And, the little me selalu berangan waktu pergi airport tu, berangan macam pergi ke luar negara. haha. Saya ingat yang saya berpura-pura macam seolah-olah menjadi salah seorang pelancong yang akan berangkat ke luar negara. Berangan -berangan , tapi dalam my mini back-pack cuma ada soft toys/toys and mineral water je. haha, nak melancong apa macam tu?

Ingatkan sampai ke besar la tak dapat pergi melancong overseas, rupanya, sampai umur 13, dah dapat pergi ke luar negara ... its a trip to MEKAH AND MADINAH for Umrah. Alhamdulillah ( praise to Allah)
I tell you something, Mekah and Madinah sangat indah. Sangat indah, sangat cantik, sangat tenang. I'm telling the truth. Then, pergi ke Dubai pula, moden gila negara tu!

Ingatkan berhenti sampai disitu saja aktiviti melancong ni, rupa-rupanya, bersambung lagi, bulan sepuluh pergi pula ke Singapura / Singapore. Memang best tapi, tapi... tak best sangat sebab duit dia agak mahal. Nak beli apa pun susah.

To be continued..... bye !

On Ghosts and whatnot

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
Well, someone asked me whether I believe in ghosts or not. Of course I do. And I believe that Malaysia has the most ghosts in the world (but of course the Indonesians wouldn't like this, so they would challenge us at the International Court of Justice that THEIR country has the most ghosts! "SIGH" - What about these Indonesians, always trying to outdo us, in the most stupid ways).
.
Back to the topic, of course I believe in ghosts. I've even captured one on camera, right (see my entry on Mekah and Madinah Always on my mind:The Final Chapter). Anyway, we have sooo many ghosts in my country, you can even come across one in broad daylight. Just a few days ago, a neighbour came to my house, asking my mom for some zamzam water, coz his brother had encountered a pontianak (vampire) at dusk at a water tank near my place (yeah, like less than 500 metres from my house and next to the highway too). The brother was trembling and shaking and having hot fever. The doctor's medication couldn't cure him. Of course, since his fever was not due to an illness, but due to extreme fear or trauma.
.
There are ghosts in my house too but I'm not going to talk about it here. Well, basically, if you are a fan of ghosts, just come to Malaysia. We are like the melting pot of ghosts haha. When we watch 'Ghost Adventure" or "Ghost Lab" on Tv, we are all like, "well, this is nothing like what we have encountered". Really.
.
Anyway, Malaysians like to be involved in witchcrafts too. There are sooo many bomohs in Malaysia that they even have their own organization (well, those who register la, but there are many more who do not register with this organization). And these bomohs would communicate with their satans or jinns to perform certain tasks. What, you don't believe in jinns? Well, Jinns do exist. It is stated in the Quran and humans can tell them to do things for us. For example, Prophet Solomon used the Jinns as construction workers or builders to build him beautiful palaces and magnificent buildings. My mom said, she believed that the pyramids were also built by Jinns coz Propeht Moses's time was when witchcrafts was at its peak. She said, that's why the archeologists are still unable to find the tomb of the master architect of the pyramids coz he was a Jinn. Haha, that's my mom's theory. Of course the archeologists would say that my mom is nuts. Hokay, my mom is weird but she's been to the pyramids, so, I dunno....
.
p.s. As I writing this, a lightning bolt suddenly occured and and my house was turned pitch black. When I turned on the power circuit, I realized that the time was 12.30 a.m. Did something just happen here? (Luckily this entry was saved in draft).
.
Hokay, gtg. Better hit the sack.
.
Peace

My Life This Week

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
Wow, actually I don't know what to write about my life this week haha. Coz I haven't been doing anything extraordinary!
.
My sisters and I wake up early every morning to go to the Quran Memorization Camp, which at first I thought would be dead boring but it turns out to be superb. Superb coz it is soo fun to hang out with all the other participants, and the musolla serves delicious food for us, and the Ustaz is a really nice guy, and we have fun really, from 8.30am - 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday every week. My lil sis even complained why we don't have classes on weekends (This really surprises my mom actually).
.
Last week was my mom's birthday but we didn't get her anything. Dad just took all of us out and my mom ended up buying clothes for my sisters and I have to spend my own dollar to get myself a t-shirt. My mom didn't get anything but honestly we don't know what to get her. My mom has been ill for quite sometime and was really ill last week with her coughs and asthma attacks and weird overdose of sleeping. My mom is not one who would pop pills or pay a visit to the doctor you know. She has been known to prefer passing out due to extreme pain rather than pop a panadol. All she'd take is coconut water or natural herbs (yes, she had fainted several times when she had her fever, always crying out in pain etc, but not a pill goes into her mouth. She says the body will heal itself and illnesses are God's way to test our patient, so we should be thankful just like we should be thankful when God gives us good health).

Anyway, the story behind this is, my mom sensed that her illness is not physical but due to something else (like evil eye maybe, I dunno), so she asked my dad to take her to see an Ustaz (a religious man) last week, and the man gave her water (which he had recited Quranic verses to it) to drink and wash her face, shoulder, neck and chest. Surprisingly, the terrible coughs and asthma attacks stopped on the spot. (True, why do I want to lie about this. I won't gain anything by lying). So, my mom could sleep peacefully now. No more hard coughings which my mom said, made her felt like someone had hit a hammer onto her head and smashed her brain to pieces. And she can also breathe unlike before, when she said, she could see a big square heavy metal plate being pushed on her chest, making her unable to breathe every time she sleeps.(Now, maybe you think my mom is nuts, but I really saw her having difficulties to breathe). Sometimes, I had to prepare hot water bottle for her and  sometimes my lil sis had to massage her thighs to ease the asthma. The weird thing is, my mom would be better when she goes out but she'd become ill again when she is at home. So now, my mom's health problem has been resolved and I'm really really happy that my mom is well again.Well, come to think of it, maybe that was God's birthday gift to my mom! (by restoring her health??).
.
My sisters and I love to watch the "Jane by Design" show on TV. In fact, my big sister now wears her makeup just like Jane you know. And because I love fashion and fashion design, this is my current fav show.
.
This weekend is wedding week. My second cousin is getting married to a Kedah royalty (well, that's what his mom said), so they are having two receptions on the same day. My cousin is a really handsome guy (due to mixed blood) though we don't really know him coz he's already an adult so I do hope that his bride is equally beautiful.
.
Anddd to be honest with you, actually I don't know what to write anymore haha coz my life this week is just soooooo normal hahaha.
.
Thank you for visiting my blog, wherever you are and I hope you have a perfectly normal life....just like me :)
.
Peace
Daniel Zaydi

Stunned!!

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

I was listening to the al-Quran (Soorah al-Hajj) while reading the translation on Quran Explorer just now. And how I was stunned when I saw the below verses:

O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought! (73) They measure not Allah His rightful measure. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty. (74) Allah chooseth from the angels messengers, and (also) from mankind. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Seer. (75) He knoweth all that is before them and all that is behind them, and unto Allah all things are returned. (76) O ye who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord, and do good, that haply ye may prosper. (77) And strive for Allah with the endeavour which is His right. He hath chosen you and hath not laid upon you in religion any hardship; the faith of your father Abraham (is yours). He hath named you Muslims of old time and in this (Scripture), that the messenger may be a witness against you, and that ye may be witnesses against mankind. So establish worship, pay the poor-due, and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protecting friend. A blessed Patron and a blessed Helper! (78).
.
Isn't it really really true. Of course no one can create a teeny weeny fly (even though some would boast that they have created rockets and whatnot). A fly is just a simple little insect. It's surely no rocket science right. But how come the rocket scientists are not able to create it. And to add insult to injury, is when the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it.I was really stunned when I heard this verse. Coz I've never even thought about it , that when a fly took something from my food, and I wasn't able to take it back. But it's just sooo true isn't. You can kill the fly but you cannot take it back from the fly. It just show how terribly weak we are.
.

Tomorrow Is 10 Muharram

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

Let's fast tomorrow. May we receive the blessing of Allah this year.

Ten Simple Living Tips

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
I'd like to continue on my family's simple living lifestyle.
.
We don't have:
.
1. Dryer. We live in a tropical country so I don't understand why some Malaysians have dryers. It's expensive, eats up your electricity like nobody's business and my mom said, emits radiation which is harmful to your health. (and mom said it destroys clothes too).
.
2.Microwave oven. Also emits radiation and most people only use it to thaw food.
.
3. Dad has stopped subscribing to National Geographic magazines and whatnot. Coz we can watch the documentaries on TV and get info on the internet.
.
4. Make-ups. Mom goes out without make-up. Only my big sis wears makeup.
.
5. Hair dresser. Only my dad and I go to the barbers. My mom and sisters cut their own hair. and my dad plans to get a set of hair cutting equipment to save on trips going to the barber.
.
6. Drink more plain water than other drinks. You'll save on electricity, teabags, sugar, and it'll improve your health.
.
7. Get rid of the maids. We don't have maids anymore so we save on paying them. They'd used more electricity, water, and food in your home too. And most of them are a burden rather than an asset.
.
8. Dishwasher. Just wash your own dish after you have eaten. My dad really hates people who don't wash their own plates and mugs.My mom washes the kitchen stuff while cooking. So, by the time she finishes cooking, her kitchen will also look as clean as before she did the cooking.
.
9. We wear house gowns. Malaysians usually wear house gowns like the baju kelawar (caftan) at home, so we save on the number of clothes to wash.
.
10.Plant your herbs. My mom and big sis plant herbs to be used when cooking, so we save on having to buy them.
.
That's all for now.
.
Peace

Yippee, Four "A"s So Far!!!!

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

.
The results of 4 subjects have been out on the Ministry's website and I've scored straight "A"s on all 4 subjects.
.
Hehehe, I'm very very glad.
.
Now, I just have to wait for the other four subjects. Hopefully, another four "A"s, insyaallah.
.
If you guys stay near my place, I'll sure belanja (treat) you all at the nearby mamak restaurant :).
.
Lovin' my life right now

Happy New Year to All Muslims

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,
.
Today is the first day of the Muslim's new year . I hope God forgives all my previous sins and next year we will all have a better year. I'm really looking forward to this new year.
.
Do you have a new year resolution? I'm still trying to figure out mine. A month from now I'll be in Form 3. I do hope that it'll be fun. But to be honest, it's exam year so I don't think I'll have the time to lepak. Not that my parents really urge me to study. They don't want me to have a stressful life. But I want to give them something, to show them my appreciation, and I guess it's by studying hard.
.
My big sis is one of the best students in school. I hope I'll get the same results too. My lil' sis is lucky coz when she's in Form 3, there's no more PMR. She can breeze thru her school years until Form 5 when we all have our SPM.
.
Next year, I'll go to school in the morning with my big sis. My big sis will sit for her SPM, then off she goes to university or get married, whichever comes first. My lil sis still goes to school in the afternoon. Haha, she'll be left alone to ride the school van. No more story telling to my mom hehe.
.
Next week, we will have to attend the quran memorization class for a month. God, why can't we have the time to relax?
.
Well, I've been reading up the popular "Solusi" magazine and I think I'll have this new year resolution (which I'll explain below):
.
One of the articles in the mazagine is " There's Heaven In My Heart". In this article, it says, one of the most renown Islamic scholars, Ibn Taimiyah said, "There's a heaven in this world. Those who didn't enter it in this world, will not enter it in the hereafter". He also said" My heaven is in my heart, wherever I go, it goes with me".
.
Now, for your info, Ibn Taimiyah was extremely poor. He was also imprisoned several times and at last he died in a prison in Damsyik.(Damascus). However, another scholar, Ibn al-Qayim said" I've never seen anyone more blessed than him. Even though he was imprisoned several times, he was assaulted and tortured, the signs of happiness are clearly shown on his face".
.
How did he achieve this heaven in his heart? According to the article:
.
1. He never blamed anyone else or the circumstances/ situations for what happened to him.
2. The difficulties in life were not something which blocked his undertakings.
3. He did not turn away from Allah's reminders. Allah says in the Quran " Whoever turns away from My reminders, he will have a narrow? life". (This will make one feels like he's living in a small enclosed area even though this world is so vast, thus he will suffer mental illnesses like depression, skizofrenia, madness and will finally commit suicide).
4. Why did this narrow and enclosed feeling arise? It's because he wants something that's against Allah's will. And he becomes angry if he doesn't achieve what he wants, when the fact is, Allah is the Planner and the Executor in this world. We are just the humble servants of God.
So how must we behave?
5. We must behave in accordance of Allah's will (by following the Quran coz Allah has stated everything on what can be done and what we cannot do).
6. If what you plan does not happen, then just accept it and move on.
.
I think this resolution is quite easy to follow once I've broken it down to the above list, don't you think. So, That will be my New Year Resolution:- to have " a heaven in my heart".
.
Wish you all have heavens in your hearts too.
.

On Simple Living Part 3

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

You know, I browse 'The Simply Luxurious Life' blog everyday and tonight I saw the writer mentioned the 'Miss Minimalist' blog. When I took a look at the blog, I feel very excited coz my mom has been practising almost all of what she suggested. So maybe I can call my mom, Mrs Minimalist huh?
.
Anyway, these are some of the items that are similar to what my mom does:
.
1. Sleep on mattress on the floor. My mom got rid of the bed after baby bro died.(There's a story behind this, but I'll tell you later). However, we children still have our own beds.
.
2. Have naked windows. (Yes, the bay window in our hall is naked, coz dad put up blinds at the deck. However, my mom has purchased a curtain last week and it will be ready next week. When I asked my mom why she suddenly feels that we need a curtain, she says she'd like to draw the blinds to get the lights in.However, she said she bought the cheapest material and it cost her only RM96.00. (Some of my neighbours have curtains which cost thousands of ringgit and I think it's a waste of money. I'd rather spend it on a holiday, don't you?).
.
3Television. We had 2 sets of TV but when one exploded after my mom rearranged its place, we are left with one, and my mom says that's enough.

4.Collectibles.We don't collect anything, except my dad. My mom can't tell my dad to give up his collections, and we have to respect his decisions. but basically my mom does not encourage us to collect and hoard.
.
5.Books. We hardly buy any books nowadays. Whatever books that we don't want will be sent to my mom's friend who's an Associate Professor with the understanding that if one day we wish to get our hands on the books again, he'll give the books back to us.Now when we want to read, we'd borrow or look up ebooks. We used to have a mini library at home but now we have only one shelving unit of books and my mom is planning to downsize further (but my dad does not like the idea, so my mom is cooling off for the time being).
.
6.Kitchenware. My mom does not collect sets and sets of china or silverware like my grandma. In fact she hates it. We are so deprived of chinas that my dad's friend, Uncle John who came back from the United Kingdom decided to donate one of his beautiful collections to us. My mom only uses it when visitors come. As for us, we keep on using the mismatched plates and whatnot.
.
7.Bank Accoount. My mom used to have many bank accounts. But now she has none. When she went to her bank recently with my dad to terminate her last remaining current account, the bank manager hugged her twice (upon seeing her and when she was leaving). Mom only has the Pilgrimage Account now while dad maintains one bank account and the Pilgrimage Account. We also don't have any bank accounts except for the Pilgrimage accounts.
.
8.Heirlooms. My mom got a set of beautiful vintage gold and diamond jewelery from my dad's aunt. However, she gave it away to her sister-in-law (My dad's sister). She also sold off all her gold jewellery. And finally, she gave away her diamond wedding ring to another sister-in-law (my mak long) coz she said the ring was purchased by my late grandfather and not my dad. She only keeps the engagement ring which is truly bought by my dad.
.
9.Wardrobe. My siblings and I still have many clothes coz my mom says we are still young and we need to enjoy wearing nice clothes. My dad has downsized his wardrobe from three wardrobes/closets? to two. My mom has downsized her wardrobe to a suitcase.
.
Gift. In the Miss Minimalist's blog, she writes that she prefers her friends' and family's presence over presents. However, my parents are the opposite of this. They like to give presents. However, they give practical presents only. I know coz when I travel with them, they already have a list of what presents to buy to whom. However, they hardly buy anything for themselves. And if their friends gave them money as a gift before their travel, they'd use the money to buy presents for the friends and not spent it on themselves.
.
Perfume. This is another item that we can't do without coz we Muslims must wear perfume. So, my dad would spend on this. But when I read Miss Minimalist's post on perfume, I think we have to reconsider. Actually my mom went without perfume for many years before coz she said perfumes contain skatool (something which is derived from human or animal waste (human stooll???) which takes up the smell of the perfume a notch or so (correct me if I'm wrong), so it's haram and cannot be used when praying. Nowadays she uses perfumes which are made in Saudi Arabia. I wonder if the perfumes contain skatool or not.
.
There are also other items but those are also against what Miss Minimalist wrote. I'll continue to update on this when I've got the idea hokay.
.
Happy living.
Peace
Daniel Zaydi

*Sorry, the spelling is Skatole (I've looked up Wikipedia).

On Deepavali and Wedding

Asalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

Today is Deepavali or the Festival of Lights for the Hindu worshippers. So, it's a national holiday and many people have gone back to their kampungs (hometowns) for the long holiday breaks. There's nothing much going here at my place except for the occasional sounds of fireworks blasting our eardrums.
.
Today I went to a wedding in Shah Alam. My dad's client's son was married. My family when with all of them during a family trip to the National Park last year. Dad's client is a rich man. He lives next to the Sultan of Selangor's palace.
.
Anyways, I'm not really into weddings but we have to go when invited. My mom didn't go however coz she doesn't feel well. The cold triggers her asthma again. Mom has been getting this asthma attacks after my baby brother died. The doctor said it's stress related. Actually she develops not only asthma, but also high blood pressure, diabetes and gastric. However, after she learnt that she's got all those problems, she cuts back on our salt intake and now her blood pressure level is back to normal. She also took traditional herbs to cure the diabetes and it works. The gastric and asthma come and go. Sometimes her stomach would become bloated like she's 8 months pregnant. The weird thing is, she does not feel any pain.
.
My mom said, maybe she had already developed all the problems even before baby brother died. That's why she was always very very tired. However, because she was only concerned about my brother, she did not go for a check-up on herself, and she has been regretting it ever since coz she feels that she did not take care of baby bro the best she could due to her tiredness.
.
Why did I tell you all these? Coz today (13/11/2012) is my baby bro's birthday and I think that's the main reason why my mom didn't want to go to the wedding, and that's also the reason why she's got her asthma attack today, coz she has been thinking about baby bro a lot.
.
Happy living
.

Next Stop, Please!!!!!

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

What is this title about? Well, actually, I am wondering out loud where to go during my school hols!.
.
Do you know why? Coz it's raining cats and dogs EVERY SINGLE DAY!. How are we gonna have a holiday in this weather?
.
I should be thankful to God right. Yes, I am thankful. I'm not fretting actually. Just taking it as a challenge.
.
My mom said I should go out after midnight and drive around KL where all the homeless people can be seen. Where do they take shelter in this weather, I have no clue. But that's what my mom said when I complained to her about this weather.
.
The only reasonable place to go to this hols is my grandparents' house in Penang. I can't go to Cameron Highlands in this weather. Fraser's Hill is out of the question. The beaches are dangerous this time of the year. Or I can just stay home and lepak in front of the TV.
.
I go to sleep feeling cold and damp. It's even colder downstairs because of the marble floor.
.
When we go to shopping complexes, the aircon is unbearable.
.
Sometimes it rains so hard I feel like I'm living under the ocean and I'd imagine seeing schools of fish swimming outside my window.
.
The cold also makes me hungry more often.
.
Driving is also dangerous in the rain. You should see how the tropical rains are. They are really really rude and furious.
.
It is still raining now  (12.32 am). I wish you can hear the rhythm of the raindrops falling on the roof.
.
Emm, maybe I should change the title to.....Holidays in the Rainy Season??? (I'd prefer to call it the Autumn Season, wayyy cooool don't you think? And I'd imagine myself running along the street of London in the rain, like what my mom said she did when she was there). Emmm, London is like a million years away.  For now,  I just have to be thankful to be able to enjoy the rains in Puchong :) (Hoping that one day Puchong will be as glamorous as London...*SIGH*) (Thinking about how joyful it was when me and sisters and baby bro played in the rain years ago).
.
Let's enjoy the rain, wherever you are.

Peace
Daniel Zaydi

Easy Spanish Recipes

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

Since my dad had just come back from Spain, I've been digging into my mom's cookbook and found this recipe which I think is very simple to make (though I've never done it, sorry haha).
.
Spanish Cold Vegetable Soup (Gazpacho)

1/4 kg tomatoes
2 peppers
1 clove garlic
5 tbsps oil
150 g bread crumbs

Crush the garlic and chopped pepper in a mortar with a little salt. Add the tomatoes which have been cut into pieces and the moistened bread crumbs.
.
When everything has been well crushed, add olive oil little by little, stirring continuously. When it has been absorbed, add cold water and then strain it off. Add vinegar and salt and serve very cold with croutons as accompaniment.
.
The next recipe looks mouthwatering, so I'll share it with you also. I'll google the pix later hokay.
.
Chicken with a Tomato and Pepper Accompaniment (Pollos a la chilindron).

2 chickens, 600 g each
4 large tomatoes
4 small green peppers
1 large onion
2 dl oil (don't know what dl means, so don't ask me :))
150 g fresh ham (Muslims don't take ham, so maybe we can substitute if for beef or something).
1 glass of wine (we don't take wine also, so grape juice maybe??)
Seasoning: garlic, chilli pepper, salt.

The chicken joints are sauteed until they turn golden brown and then put aside.
.
Prepare a fried mixture of tomato, green pepper, onion, chilli pepper and plenty of chopped garlic. Put the chicken and the fried mixture together and cook for five minutes. Then add thinly sliced semi-cured ham and cook for another five minutes. With the ham a small glass of wine may be added.
.
That's all. Happy cooking.
.

Dad is Back from Madrid

Assalamualaikum wbt and peace be upon you,

My dad has returned from Madrid last Wednesday with AD's late grandma's belongings. My dad went to Madrid recently to assist in the speeding up of the process of bringing back AD's grandma's body who died at the Barajas Airport, Madrid on Wednesday the previous week..
.
Last night AD's parents came to my house to collect the stuff and AD's grandma's body arrived at the KLIA airport yesterday (Friday) and the burial was held on the same day.
.
It is sad to talk about deaths and I've been doing many searches on this topic since my baby bro died. Muslims believe that when we die, our souls don't die, we'll just migrate to a new world called the Barzah. This world has already existed and in the Quran it says, there's a wall between this world that we are living now and the world of the dead. so we can't communicate with them. However in many religious books, we can actually communicate with the dead - in our dreams. I know about this because my mom bought lots of books on death and resurrection after my baby brother died. (because we believe that when we sleep, we actually die).
.
However, I'd like to share with you that within the first 100 days of my little brother's death, we could actually feel and hear him even when we were awake. My lil' sis and I could hear him call "Mama" a few times. And there were also strange happenings like, when my mom's friends came to say their condolences and my mom started telling them about his death, the door of the room next to the living area started to move three or four times, like my brother was protesting or trying to tell my mom that he's still here.
.
One time, my mom's best friend, Aunty Mas came to visit my mom after the death. When she gave Salam outside our door, she said she could hear my baby bro's voice calling "Mama, mama", like he used to do when Aunty Mas came to visit (when he was alive).
.
Today, AD and his mom came to our house. Her mom brought some food for us.I heard my mom asked Aunty Farah whether she has dreamt of her mom or not, and Aunty Farah said no. I saw in my mom's eyes (she's wearing niqab) that she was sad. Maybe because Aunty Farah's mom is still unable to communicate with her or to tell her that she's ok on the other side. I don't know, but I saw that my mom was sad.But I bet Aunty Farah didn't know why my mom asked her that question.
.
Ok, enough about this. I'll write on something uplifting after this (you just wait).
.
Have a wonderful beautiful life
Daniel Zaydi

Holiday Is Here!

Assalamualaikumwarrahmatullahhiwabarakatuh dan selamat sejahtera semua.

( seingat-ingat saya, dah berbulan-bulan lama tak tulis dalam bahasa melayu ni!)

Haa, ni nak tulis. Cuti sekolah dah nak start. Seriously, we all need holidays. The longer, the better. Holidays that make our little mind / brain to rest? We all need that. Tidak kira bayi, kanak-kanak, remaja, dewasa dan warga emas. Kalau tak berehat macam mana? Ok , end of the topic. Remember, R.E.S.T  . Hmm, where shall i start?

Straight to the point, apa aktiviti yang patut dibuat untuk mengisi masa ' tanpa pembelajaran' ? I shall make a list.

Ready for the list? Sedia eh?

~ SENARAI AKTIVITI YANG HENDAK DIBUAT PADA CUTI SEKOLAH AKHIR TAHUN~

8. Buy new clothes. ( school uniforms actually.)
9. Try to find a 'part-time job' ( "money, money, money, always honey in rich man's world" -ABBA . I'm not a rich person. That's why I need a job so badly. Not that bad actually. Ekspresi melebih-lebih yang ditunjukkan oleh penulis.)

10. Facebook-ing , Twitter-ing? ( I don't think so, naik lemak laa saya nanti.)
11. Go to Ikea! ( perabot untuk bilik! Make-over room! The best part!)
12. Relaxing. ( enjoy spend time with family & friends.)

Saya rasa itu saja. Kalau ada sesiapa nak ajak saya lepak-lepak sambil relax, just contact me through facebook ok? Saya dah letih menulis , nak tercabut tangan dibuatnya. Saya berhenti sampai disini saja ye.

Lastly,
" PENUHILAH CUTI SEKOLAH INI DENGAN AKTIVITI YANG BERMANFAAT , selain balik kampung laa. Trust me, It's WORTH it.) Bye. Enjoy your day!

Love,
